Pub Crawl Day 1 -- The Gathering --

Ready or not, we are on our way.  Mog R is loaded to the gills.  The luggage area behind the seats measures about 3 and a half cubic feet, plus room for two small suitcases on the luggage rack over the spare tire.  Mog R has only a long hours drive to Port Clinton, but others are coming to the Crawl from many miles away.  I think this is the hottest day of the year, with temps in the 90's and the humidity way up there.

When we arrived this lovely 1946 Flat Radiator 4/4 was at the hotel, it came from South Bend, Indiana.  It is owned by Charles Hayes and Vicki McIntire.  This is it's first long trip after a thorough restoration.

And these three Morgans pulled in shortly after, having driven up from the Cincinnati area.  Veteran Pub Crawlers Reg and Charlotte Hahn, Myron Koenig and Bill and Ellen Kukuk.

This is what a Noggin' is like.  We found a shady table on the waterfront and the Pub Crawl leader treated us to beer and chips.  Lots of conversations about past trips and family adventures.  It is good to see these friends again.  But, boy it's HOT.

Despite the heat and humidity of the afternoon the view of the boats and water was superb.

Our first "Pub" of the Pub Crawl was McCarthy's across the street from our hotel.  Great Irish food, but most of us had Lake Erie Perch.    In the foreground you can see that Bruce and Betty Hardman finally arrived after a late start to the day, coming from the Parkersburg area.  They have had no electric power in the home for a week due to the summer storms that ran through the area last week.  Patsy and Art Kampschafer also rolled in from their trek from Texas.  They suffered some clutch problems en route but seem to have everything under control.  We are anticipating the arrival of Al Marsh, due in from the Washington DC area.... but he's always late.  Bet he has a story.

Tomorrow the cars stay in the parking lot and we take the jet boat to Put In Bay.  Hope it cools down a bit.
